Suncook Valley Church Softball League

We would love to add two more churches to this list, and your church would be a great addition to it.

We currently have 3 fields we play at:
Carpenter Park in Chichester
Webster Park in Epsom
Loudon Recreational Fields in Loudon

We play on Monday nights from 6:00-8:00pm

We are looking for a couple of churches to put a team together. No experience necessary, willing to go have fun and fellowship with other Christians and non-Christians. Our goal for the unsaved is to show a great witness to them through the game of softball.

We would like to see your church find its own field, but if you cannot find an available field we will make arrangement for you to play on another field.

A bit about ourselves; we are Scot and Teresa P.. We are residents of Pittsfield and have been married for four years. We are members of Chichester Congregational Church, involved in the church nursery, tech team, Spiritual Formation teachers, Awana, we were involved in the youth ministry, and Scot is also a deacon for our church. We are involved in (MRO) Motor Racing Outreach ministry and now with Bikers for Christ. We met playing on a Christian softball league having fun and making friends with team members. We believe this is a great ministry opportunity to reach out to all, in a safe and non-threaten environment, where all can have fun and talk to Christians without feeling pressured.

Suncook Valley Church Softball League Rules

1. Maximum of 7 men on the field at a time (including if not enough woman are present per rule #2) If possible, everyone must play in the field for at least 3 innings. If there are not enough women on the team the short field position needs to be eliminated, until the team has enough women.

2. Minimum of 3 woman players in the top 10 of batting order.
3. Under no condition should a pregnant woman play at all.
4. The minimum number of required players is 9. If only 8 players show up, and both team coaches agree to play, there is no forfeit. Male/Female ratio still applies.
5. Adult players preferred, but the minimum age is 14 years old.
6. Everyone bats in one continuous order for the whole game. Late arrivals must be placed at the end of the batting order. Players who show up after the first round of the batting order cannot play in that game.
7. A game consists of 7 innings.
8. Runners cannot leave the base until the ball crosses the plate (no leading). Pinch runners (of comparable age and weight) are allowed if the batter cannot run.
9. Catchers call all foul balls. (They can see foul lines the best)
10. First & Third base coaches umpire the bases.
11. Foul lines are field specific and should be clarified for all in the pre-game meetings.
12. This is a slow pitch league; pitches are to be between 4 to 8 feet. Any ball spin is allowed.
13. The catcher calls a strike only when the ball hits the strike mat. (Not the home plate.)
14. No walking.
15. No bunting.
16. A maximum of 6 runs per team per inning. The team with last ups, if they are not winning the team can play past 6 runs to win the game.
17. No steel cleats allowed.
18. Only official softball bats are allowed. Coaches are responsible for inspection of all equipment to make sure everyone complies with the rules.
19. Catchers are strongly encouraged to wear the protective masks that all teams should have.
20. The 3 outfielders play normal depth with the 4^th playing anywhere the team decides. Outfielders may come in on batters.
21. Rainouts are determined by the coaches, who must report to the field to make the decision (phone agreements about canceling the game are also permitted).
22. Coaches are responsible for working out all issues.
23. Home team is responsible for the game ball and the pre-game prayer.
24. Infield fly rule does apply.
