ANNOUNCEMENTS
Please Welcome Today
Craig & Layni Soderberg
Wycliffe Bible Translators
Serving in Southeast Asia
This letter of introduction is from Terry Shanahan, Northeast Regional Minister for the CCCC.
Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. I would like to introduce you to Craig and Layni Soderberg, missionaries with Wycliffe Bible Translators serving in Southeast Asia. Craig is a licensed minister within the CCCC and both Craig and Layni are serving as commissioned Christian workers of the CCCC. Craig completed his B.S in Economics at the University of Pennsylvania and his Master of Arts in Linguistics (with a focus on Bible Translation) at the University of Texas. Layni completed her Bachelor of Arts in Ministry at Malaysia Bible Seminary. Craig and Layni work with a language group referred to with a code name, the Ibwe language. Almost 100% of this group adheres to a different religion from that of you and me. Their effort is truly a team effort involving strongly committed churches and individuals as senders and Craig and Layni as willing goers.
I have appreciated Craig and Layni’s creative and enthusiastic efforts among the Ibwe people. They are in the midst of learning the Ibwe language and building solid friendships with a wide range of local people. Craig has diligently sought to build a team of Ibwe to work on the Bible translation into the Ibwe language. This is not an easy task in a people group with hardly any believers. I’ve seen Craig persevere in seeking committed Ibwe speakers to serve as translators. Even though many who seemed promising dropped out, he kept at it to develop the Bible translation team. The Jesus Film has been translated into Ibwe, and this has been shown around the Ibwe area with reports of some people coming to faith. Two booklets from the Gospel of Luke have been translated and are being used in small groups of believers gathering to study the Word of God in the Ibwe language. Old Testament portions about key prophets are being translated as well. Craig and Layni plan to develop a set of oral Bible stories about God’s redemptive story as a further way to impact this people group because most Ibwe people can not read and/or don’t like to read. Again this is a very challenging task.
Through the years, Craig and Layni have seen the faithfulness of God in providing the prayer and financial resources that they need. But now, due to the economic downturn, they have lost some financial partners because those partners have lost their jobs. Would you pray for God to provide the additional financial support that Craig and Layni need to continue their ministry? If you are already a financial partner, thank you. If you are not yet a financial partner, please consider inviting them out to meet with you, your church leaders and or missions committee at your church and consider asking them to share with you about this exciting work of God in Bible translation among a people group that has never heard God’s Word in their language.
Thank you for standing together with Craig and Layni to see the Kingdom of God established among the millions of Ibwe people still waiting to hear this Good News.

Calling All Moms!
CCC – Hope in Christ is looking to start a Biblically-based Moms’ group. Following the Titus 2 principle, this would be a place where older/wiser Moms mentor, teach and encourage younger Moms in their relationships with Jesus, their husbands & children.
It is our prayer that through this ministry we can become better equipped as Jesus’ followers, Wives and Mothers and instill Godly character in our children.
However… to get this started, we need the mentors. Are you an experienced Mother who loves the Lord? Do you have the desire to encourage, teach and prayerfully support other Moms as they nurture their families?
Please prayerfully consider becoming involved in this vital ministry. We need Mentors, kitchen hostess and childcare workers. We are looking at meeting 2x a month.
